Fur Ball

Last night Hubby and I went to the 3rd Annual Fur Ball.  This is a fundraiser for the local Humane Society.  It is held at one of the local car dealerships in town.  They clear out the showroom and set up tables everywhere.  We got all dressed up.

Not quite dressed up

The lucky thing about this Ball is that you are not required to get dressed up.  It is a casual event, which makes it really nice.

So there was a silent auction, live auction, gambling with fun money, food, wine tasting and other drinks.

Champagne - don't mind if I do.Silent auction - there was a line that took 30 minutes to get through

My plate

I ended up getting 2 little smokies, meat and cheese and kiwi, strawberry and blueberries and some fruit dip.  They had cake also but it wasn’t the sweet frosting, it was more like cool whip and if I am going to have cake I want the sweet frosting.  So I skipped the cake – not worth wasting calories on if I don’t enjoy the frosting.
Hubby and I did some bidding on the silent auction items but got out bid and we did some gambling at the black jack tables.  No such luck, I only one once and Hubby won a hat from the local dealership.
Then it was time for the live auction.  Apparently Hubby was feeling preety good from the champagne and wine because he did quite a lot of bidding.
This is what we ended up with:

The loot

We ended up with:
  • Hall Tree
  • 1 year supply of cat food
  • a picture of the train that is in Boone, Iowa going over the tressel
  • Carmel Apple Cheesecake
  • Year subscription to the local paper
  • Certificate for a signed football from the Iowa Hawkeyes
  • Plus we have 2 adirondack chairs that are painted for the Hawkeyes that we need to pick up on Monday (couldn’t bring them home in the vehicle we had).

So it was a good night and it all went for a good cause.  The Humane Society is run on donations only.  So we were more than happy to contribute to the cause.

We got up this morning and took the pups for a walk and then this morning’s breakfast consisted of a smoothie.  Needed it after all the drinking I did last night.

Chocolate Cherry Smoothie

Into the smoothie went:

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 cup frozen cherries
  • 1 scoop chocolate whey protein powder
  • 2 big handfuls of spinach
  • 1 T ground flaxseed.

Delicious.  NOw off to do some work on the basement.
