Okay, did you know that February 28th is National Pancake Day??? I didn’t know until I was on twitter today and found that out. So all day at work all I could think about was pancakes. How in the world could anyone not love pancakes? The only problem was Hubby had set out shrimp that his parents had brought back from Texas. So it was shrimp for supper.
So I got home from work and I started to shell the shrimp. Well unfortunately the shrimp had been in the freezer way to long and it was no good. 😦
Or maybe this was someone telling me we needed to honor National Pancake Day. Yep, we did.
Hello buttermilk pancakes with strawberry syrup. Yum, yum and more yum.
Of course I got the eggs, hashbrowns and corned beef hash as well. Yum, yum.
Did you take part in National Pancake Day???
Now after eating all that fat, I’m off to watch the Biggest Loser. Have a great night.
Can you believe it, it is the last Monday of February. Holy cow, where did the month go?
This morning the sun was up bright and early which made for a beautiful looking morning outside but when you stepped outside you were smacked in the face with freezing cold. Why does the sunshine have to be so deceiving all the time. Nothing like making you think it is nice and warm out and then bam, its freezing. With the windchill this morning it was 8°. Not so beautiful anymore.
Needless to say since it is Monday it meant both Kiddos had to be to school by 7:40 a.m. Yuck, nothing like making you rush around after a busy weekend and all you want to do is curl up and go to sleep. Oh well, at least this is the last Monday where they have to be to school so early. The big concert is on Thursday night. We will be enjoying all of their hard work at the jazz band concert. I really can’t wait to see/hear it.
Well off to get some work done, the plus with the Kiddos having to be to school early is that I come to work early which means I get to leave early.
Have a great Monday!!!!
So today we celebrated Bubba’s birthday with my family.
Nothing like getting everyone together to celebrate. Yes I am the only one out of three kids that is married and has kids so needless to say there are no cousins for my kids. Which is kind of sad because I grew up with a ton of cousins and it was some of my best times was spending time with them.
Of course you can’t celebrate a birthday without cake. Let’s face it, I live for the frosting on cake.
Bubba had to blow out all of the candles and he did do it in one breath. I was very surprised with 13 candles he was able to do that. Of course you can’t celebrate a birthday without presents.
Bubba was quite impressed with what he received. Nothing like Grandma and Grandpa giving you what you ask for.
Plus when the family is town there is always some craziness that goes with it.
Now off to watch the Academy Awards. Who will win Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Picture?
Have you heard of the website Foodzie Tasting Club?
I hadn’t either so I checked it out. Apparently every month they have a different box that you can buy, if you wish, that has a theme to it. There are date night, movie, night etc. theme boxes. So then they can come with pastas, candies, popcorn, nuts, etc. that goes with the theme. So I joined but in order to do so I received a free mini tasting box.
This box came with a Bag of Heart Candy from Papabubble in New York, NY and Almond Fleur Del Sel Toffee from Valerie Confections in Los Angeles, CA.
Oh my goodnes. These were all fantastic. The kiddos loved the toffee. Will definitely be checking out future tasting boxes from Foodzie. You may want to take a look yourself.
So yesterday morning we woke up to this:
We received 4 inches of snow. It made everything look so pretty but yet it wasn’t fun at all to scoop because it was wet and heavy. Once the sun came up a little more it really made the snow sparkle.
I must admit even though we haven’t had much snow and I don’t really care for winter that much because of the cold, I do love how the snow will sparkle when the sun shines on it and how it makes for a beautiful winter wonderland.
So last night for supper Bubba wanted to hit up Applebee’s for his birthday meal.
Plus he got a free dessert for his birthday. The only thing was, they don’t sing Happy Birthday anymore. Which was kind of disappointing because turning 13 what a way to bring in the year of turning into a teenager.
As you can tell, he was really excited to get the chocolate mousse.
So when we got home it was time for presents.
He was happy with his gifts. We didn’t have cake because we are having company tomorrow and that is when the cake will be brought out and the candles will be blown out.
Now off to do some cleaning. Hopefully this cold won’t get the best of me though.
Yep, it is official, I have a teenager in the house.
It is hard to believe that just a short 13 years ago I had my first baby. They always told me that time would fly and I didn’t believe anyone, but yes, it’s true time does fly by. It seems like just yesterday I was holding you in my arms for the first time and now you are taller than me.
You are playing sports and getting straight A’s in school. You are excelling at the trombone and are trying to grow into a man. It scares me most days but the days that you make the right decision and make me proud makes it all worth the growing pains we have all gone through.
I love you and Happy Birthday Bubba!!!!
As a working mom you know that you are given an hour long lunch hour. Well the lunch hour ends up turning into how fast can I get as many errands done as possible.
Yesterday, Chickie had an ortho appointment to have her retainer checked. The appointment wasn’t until 1:00 so I thought it was perfect. She could eat lunch at school, I pick her up, return her to school and I would still have a little time for my lunch hour. So, so wrong.
I picked Chickie up from school at 12:45. She hadn’t had lunch yet. Her class was just going to the lunch room when she left. First failed plan. Then we get to the ortho and they are running behind. Second failed plan. We were there 45 minutes and I ended up having to take Chickie to lunch. Third failed plan. So we headed off to Subway and split a turkey sub and tried to talk as we both were inhaling our food. I returned her to school at 2:00. Fourth failed plan.
So the lunch hour that I thought would be quick and easy, not so much. It ended up being 1 1/2 hours, inhaling lunch which made both of us queasy the rest of the afternoon.
The one good side about all of this, Chickie and I had some good quality mother/daughter time together. I guess when the opportunity is there, you must take advantage of it.
Enjoy your Thursday. They are predicting 5 to 7 inches of snow for us today. Bubba is to have his last basketball game today. I’m thinking that is going to be another failed plan.
They say babies do better with a routine.
I think actually I would do better with a routine. My schedule has been totally off the last few weeks so I haven’t gotten a thing accomplished. In fact, I feel like the baby in the picture.
I can’t get a darn thing accomplished. For the last week I have been setting my alarm for 5:00 a.m. so that I could get up and get my workout in before work. If that hasn’t been an epic fail. Not once have I gotten up. I have been lucky to get out of bed by 6:00 a.m. Yes that would give a normal person enough time to workout and get ready for work but for me, it just doesn’t. Part of the problem, okay the major problem is, I am running the kiddos everywhere in the morning. Some mornings one needs to be to school at 7 or 7:30 and the other will need to be to school at 7:40. So if I am going to get ready for work and eat breakfast before work I just don’t have time to work out. By the time I get home from work and we eat supper, I then do my workout. By then, I am done for the night. Exhausted and I only veg out in front of the tv.
How do you get yourself motivated to get things done? I know I need to push myself at night more and I need to push myself in the a.m. to get up and get my workout done so at night I have more time to accomplish things. Any suggestions?
