Sometimes kids will surprise you.

Last night Hubby and I headed to bed and this is what we found on our bed.

We both were wondering what Chickie wanted.  She never, ever leaves us notes like this.  So this morning when she got up I told her we received her note and wanted to know why she wrote it.  She said yesterday at school they had their girl group meeting and they talked about how much stress parents can be under and how much they do for their kids (surprising that the school talked about that).  So she said that she just felt like she needed to leave us a note on how much she appreciates us.  Nothing like making me feel bad for thinking that she was acutally wanting something.  Sometimes kids will surprise you and this is the nicest surprise that I could have received.  Sometimes she is so much wiser beyond her years (remember, she is only 10).

So this morning I got up and took the pups for a quick walk and then it was home for breakfast.

Coffee with creamer, toast with peanut butter and honey and the last of the lemon poppy seed bread from Easter.  For some reason I just cannot get the carbs out of my system.  I am trying but boy is it hard.

The only way I justified eating all these carbs this morning was because I knew I was hitting the spin class at 11:30 today.  Which I did hit up the spin class.  My legs are sore and by the end of the 18 minutes I was a sweat’n fool.  Yes it was only 18 minutes but we are working our way up since most of us have not done spin class before.  We have a small, small class.  In fact, there was only 3 of us there today.  So after spin it was time for lunch.

Lunch ended up being a little bit of this and a little bit of that.  It was a veggie burger topped with cheese, carrots dipped in Trader Joe’s Tomato & Basil Hummus (I have absolutely fallen in love with this hummus) and 2 sugar free jello eggs leftover from Easter.  Can’t wait until all the Easter leftovers are gone.  Now it is time to head back to work.  Have a great afternoon.

Barbie Party

A couple of weeks ago I was notified by Modern Mom that I had been picked to review a Barbie Party pack.  I wasn’t sure what to expect when I received the pack but let me tell you I was quite surprised when this showed up at my door.

This box is chuck full of good stuff.  This is what it looked like when I got it all out of the box.

There is enough to have a party with 10 girls.  In the package we received 3 Fairy Tale Barbies, crayons, the Fairy Tale DVD, glitter, fairy wings and magazines.  I think everything is fabulous and Chickie and I cannot wait to have the party.

This is amazing stuff that we received in the box.  Way beyond my expectations of what I thought we would receive.  I must thank Barbie for allowing us to receive this box of goodies for us to have a party with.  I must also thank Modern Mom for giving me the opportunity to be one of the few that was allowed to receive this wonderful package.  If you have not seen this website, you must go to it.  It has amazing advice and information on it.  This is one of the sites that I make sure to go to every day.  Thanks Modern Mom and Barbie.

It’s Friday

Happy Friday!!!  Hope everyone is having a fantastic day.

So this morning the kiddos did not have school which means I get to sleep in.  I did get up later and took the pups for a quick walk before I got ready for work.  When I left for work the kiddos were still sleeping (lucky ducks).  Since I didn’t get up this morning I did not have time for breakfast.  But luckily for me it is Donut Friday at the office.  Yes, I took a donut.

I was so hungry by the time I got the donut I ate half of it before I remembered to take a picture.  Yes, I know this is so, so bad for me especially with Easter on Sunday.  Will work on doing much better the rest of the day.

So at 11:30 it was time for the circuit class.  It kicked my butt today.  We ended up doing 60 second sprints X3 and then circuit training for the upper body.  Hello chest muscles.  Since our office is closed for 2 hours (in order for people to go to the noon church service) I decided to stay and do a workout on the treadmill.  I ended up doing mostly walking at 4.0 but I kept adjusting the incline from 1.0 up to 10.0 and anywhere in between.  Boy was I sweaty by the time I got done with my 30 minutes.

Tired and sweaty but what a good workout I got in.  After that I had to run my vehicle to the dealership.  New brakes it is a gettin this afternoon.  Good thing since we are traveling tonight after work.  I have been nervous since noon because the kiddos are at home and they made frozen pizzas for the first time.  Scary, scary, scary that they are at home using the oven.  Just don’t know when you start to allow your kids to use the major appliances when you are not at home.  Such tough decisions.  I don’t know if I like them growing up so fast but yet some days I feel like it is going oh so slowly.  This summer will be real interesting with them staying home alone.  Still not 100% convinced that I will be doing this though.

Since my vehicle needed new brakes and I didn’t have a way to get my vehicle to the dealership, home and then back to work the dealership ended up just bringing me back to work.  Wish I could have gone home though.

At work I finally got lunch.

In the mix is:

  • Chobani Peach Yogurt
  • Banana
  • 1/2 c. Honey Nut Chex
  • 1/2 c. Gerber Puffs (sweet potatoe and peach)
  • 1/2 c. Oatmeal Squares.

This hit the spot after my workout and all the running I did at noon.  Now it’s time to get back to work.  After a great rest of the day.

Sometimes all you need is crackers, cheese and wine.

Before I get to the crackers, cheese and wine, let’s go back to lunch today.  Today was a repeat of Tuesday:

Big ole salad.  Lettuce, tomatoe, cheese and veggie burger along with Catilina Dressing.  When something works why change it.

Then about 3:30 (notice I made it longer today, must have been the salad 🙂 .) I had a good ole apple.

Yummy, it hit what I was craving.  After work Chickie had dance, Hubby and Bubba got a haircut and  had errands to run.  By the time everyone got home no one felt like cooking.  So what is always good for supper?  Crackers, cheese and wine.

The wine is RhubyDooby from the Santa Maria Vineyard & Winery.  We picked this wine up last weekend.  It is a strawberry rhubarb wine.  It is just sweet enough with a hint of dryness.  Wholy cow I love, love this wine.  Along with wine it was some cheese and crackers.

This is a club crackerwith smoked gouda (love, love this cheese) and prosciutto on top.  We picked up the prosciutto at Sam’s Club last weekend.  Hubby and I have been dying to try it, in fact, this is one of the reasons that going to Italy is on our Bucket List.  The prosciutto is as good as everyone says.  While we were at Sam’s Club last weeked I also picked this up:

This is goat cheese that is wild blueberry vanilla flavor.  We all tried this and guess what, I am the only one who likes it.  I think it tastes just like blueberr cheesecake which is going to be a huge problem for me because I could have eaten the whole pound of this cheese.  Of course I love blueberries and I love cheese.  So not to shabby of a supper if you ask me.  In fact this is the kiddos eaten the prosciutto and smoked gouda.

Yep, they thougt it was pretty good too.  They each had peaches with their supper also so they did get close to the four food groups.  Some nights you just need a little wine and cheese to make everything better.

Now it is off to get packing done for the weekend.  We are taking off right after work to head to the grandparents for Easter weekend.  Anyone else have travel plans for the weekend?

Sometimes you are just too tired.

Sometimes you are just too tired to blog.  Last night was one of those so I did not blog.  All I did was lay on the couch and went to bed early.

So I will back up to yesterday.  Before I went to the gym I was starving.  Obviously my smoothie from the morning did not stick with me.

I had about 4 bites of the Luna Bar Carmel Nut Brownie.  This is very good but since I knew I would be hitting the gym in about 20 minutes I didn’t want to eat too much.  This held me over while I worked out.

I went to the gym for our circuit class at 11:30.  OMG my arms are sore today.  The trainer had me increase my weights and now my arms are feeling it.  I’m glad that he had me increase the weights because I just wasn’t feeling it the last week and half of going to the class.  Now if only the number on the scale would start dropping I would be so, so happy.

So for lunch yesterday:

So it was $5.00 salad and sandwiches at Olde Boston’s so I had to get the Fried Chicken Salad.  Okay, the fried chicken isn’t the best for you but it tasted oh so good.  I ended up not eating the bread that came with it (yeah me) and I only had 1/4 of the ranch dressing.  I did eat all of the lettuce, fried chicken, bacon and cheese.  Needed it after my workout and it held me over for the rest of the afternoon.  I didn’t even need my 3:00 snack like I usually do.  I must not be eating enough at noon to tide me over for supper.

Speaking about supper, when I got home hubby had supper ready.

Tacos.  I only had one of these bad boys.  In the mix was taco meat, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, greek yogurt and taco sauce.  Folded it all up and I ate it.  Yum, yum.

I spent the rest of the night on the couch vegging and watching American Idol.  Oh, I guess I did about 20 minutes of a workout.  Didn’t care for the workout at all.

This morning I got up and took the pups for a walk.  The ground was frosty, there were clouds in the sky and the birds where a singing.  It was so peaceful out.  When I got back and got my shower I was hungry.

Big bowl of oatmeal was in store since the smoothie did not stick with me yesterday.

In the mix:

  • 1/3 cup oats
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/3 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 frozen banana

I microwaved it for 1 1/2 minutes

  • 1 spoonful peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup blackberries
  • 1 T mini chocolate chips

This hit the spot and I am full now.  I forgot to take a picture of my cup of Joe but you know I always have that for breakfast.

Now off to get the kiddos ready for school and me off to work.  Have a great Thursday!!

P.S.  The Shoe Page has been updated.

The Birds Are Chirping

Even though this is what our ground looks like:

And the temp outside is:
32 Degrees
Yep, 32 degrees outside at 6:43 this morning, the birds were chirping away as I walked the pups this morning.  I absolutely love listening to them sing while I walk.  The plus was there wasn’t any wind so it was so nice and peaceful while we were out.  I guess we don’t have much snow left and it could have been worse.  A town 1 1/2 hours away got 3 inches of snow.  Not what I would call a nice spring so the little bit that we have on the ground isn’t all that bad.

What happened to the tulips?

The picture on the let above shows what my Tulips should look like, the picture on the right shows what most of them look like.  They have been eaten off.  Deer, stupid deer have eaten my tulips.  When we moved in to our house last fall I planted 100 bulbs all around the house (yes, I love tulips).  Needless to say I don’t think I am only going to get one or two blooms because all of the rest have been eaten by the deer.  I planted them all around the edge of the house.  Makes me so mad.  If anyone knows what to do to stop the deer from eating flowers, please let me know.  I really like flowers but I’m thinking I won’t be able to plant any because of the deer.  Plus I wanted to plant a vegetable garden because we love fresh veggies, don’t think that is going to happen because I do not want to feed the deer.
On to breakfast:

Smoothie Time

In the mix today went:
  • 1/2 c. frozen strawberries
  • 1/2 c. frozen peaches
  • 1 c. almond milk
  • 1 scoop chocolate whey protein powder
  • 2 handfuls of spinach.

This is very good.  It has the right combination of strawberries and peaches plus the chocolate flavor just adds to it. Unfortunately by the picture above you can see that I need a better blender.  I have little specks of spinach in it.  You can’t taste it but I know it’s there.  Might have to put that on my list of things I need.  Would love a Vita Mix but I am not going to fork out 2 arms and a leg for that.  Mackenzie still needs hers and I’m not willing to give mine up.

Off to get ready for work and the kids off to school.  Have a great day.

Never to old to learn

Never to old to learn was my motto today.  Apparently I needed to learn a few things.  Even though it is April 19th, Mother Nature says it is never to late to snow.

Mother Nature was so, so cruel today.  First it started out with rain and then it snowed.  Not only did it snow for a short while it snowed for 2 hours.  They were huge, huge flakes and they were wet.  So needless to say there was a ton of slush.  If you haven’t ever driven in slush before, it sucks you in and you have no control.  There were plenty of accidents today because everyone forgot to slow down.  Nothing like leaving a huge mess Mother Nature.  We all appreciate it – NOT!!!

So today was a new class at the gym with a new instructor.  We had no clue what the instructor was going to do.  But guess what it was:

Spinner Bikes(Source)

Spin class.  Now I have been thinking about taking a spin class because everyone always raves so highly about it.  Let me tell you, I am not to old to learn that this is way, way harder than I ever thought it would be.  Everyone always says how amazing the class is and how much they sweat.  We were lucky today because the instructor was late and asked how long we wanted to to work out.  We only ended up doing 15 minutes.  Yep 15 minutes and my thighs were screaming murder at me.  Holy cow, this is very, very hard.  I can’t believe how much I sweated in just 15 minutes but I can defintely see how people say they love this class.  Our instructor is so nice.  Since only 1 of us in the class has done spinning before he is going to work us up gradual to more time.  Next week, 18 minutes.

So once I got done with spinning it was time for lunch.  I was defintely hungry today.

Tuesday Lunch

In the mix today was romaine lettuce, carrots, tomatoes, cheddar cheese and vegetable masala burger that we picked up at Trader Joe’s on Sunday.  I topped it off with 1 T of Catlina Fat Free Dressing.  This hit the spot but I was feeling a little weak after the spin class so I needed a little sugar.

Okay, who am I kidding, I wanted a Pepsi.  I have been doing so good without pop but I was just craving it today.  I must be honest and tell you that I only drank 1/2 of it.  It took off the edge that I was having.

So at 3:00 (yep like clockwork) my stomach was ready for something else to eat.

Snack Time

Chobani Strawberry Yogurt with homemade granola.  Yum, yum, yum.  This is my favorite yogurt of all times.  Plus with my granola it hit the spot.  Sweet and savory, just what I needed to get through the rest of the day.

When I got home Hubby had supper ready (he is the best husband ever).

Tater Tot Casserole with a side of bread (way to many carbs) but we haven’t had tater tot casserole in forever.  This was so, so good.

My plate

I did take a small helping with a small piece of bread.  Carbs were calling my name tonight.  I ended up eating it all plus maybe another small scoop of the tater tot casserole.  This is so easy, I just don’t understand why we don’t make this more often.  Need to make a mental note to do that.

So once we were done with supper Hubby and I needed to run some errands (i.e. get gifts for the Easter Baskets).  How Easter crept up so fast I will never know.  but as we were leaving the kiddos got their dessert.

There is actually fresh strawberries underneath all the cool whip.  Apparently Chickie likes cool whip.  Now off to watch the Biggest Loser.  Have a great night.
