Death of an Icon

It is hard to believe that “America’s Oldest Teenager” has passed away.

Dick Clark-LRS-011385.jpg

One thing that I always noticed about Dick Clark, he never really aged.  I guess that is why no matter how old he became it never really phased me that he was always in tune with all of the current music.  From his days at American Bandstand, if you were lucky enough to watch the show, to his game show days, to America’s Top 40 Countdown on the radio, he always amazed me.  I guess it is because I wanted to be a co-host with him.
He was 82 years old when he passed away.  Up until his stroke in 2004 I would have never ever guessed he was that age.  He just seemed to always be in his 50s for as long as I can remember.
May he rest in peace and my heart goes out to his family.
Thank you Dick Clark for all that you have given to the music and television world.

Finally

Finally I am feeling better.  I am almost back to 100% after being sick.  Let’s hope I didn’t just jinx myself.  I have had this head/chest cold and I have had a terrible time trying to shake.  This morning I woke up and felt 90% better.  This makes me very happy and hopefully in a few days I will live 100%.

BEST BODY BOOTCAMP

BEST BODY BOOTCAMP

We have finally made it to Week 7 of best body bootcamp.  Yeah!!!!

Today on best body bootcamp is was 40 min of 30/60/90 Intervals Mix.  Oh me of my, that was intense.  I did 3.2 miles in 40 minutes.  I think that is awesome for me considering I spent the first 10 minutes walking.  Obviously this bootcamp has made me stronger since last week while I was sick I did not push myself to hard.  I did the work out but I kept it on the lighter side which tells me that no matter what you do, every little bit helps your body.

Finally . . .

They have started work on Husband’s shed.  He is so excited because tomorrow they come to pour the concrete.  Of course,

Yep, they left a pile of dirt and made a nice path in my yard which I didn’t even want.  Apparently the rain from the weekend, left the yard a little (or a lot) soaked.  I guess the pile of dirt will end up evening out all the tire marks.

And finally . . .

I am done blogging so I can go spend time with sad eyes.  Have a great night.

Sick of Being Sick

Yep, I am one of those people who gets sick when the weather changes and yes, the weather has changed.  In fact, we’ve had to cover our plants at night.

Yes, the sheets are covering the front yard and adding quite the beautiful flower decor, don’t you think?  After having record high temps for the month of March we have been having freeze warnings the last 3 nights.  So needless to say, we had to pick some flowers.

The tulips are now on my counter.  They are all in bloom and I didn’t want them to freeze so while I was sick in bed on Tuesday night, Hubby and Chickie picked them for me.  What a nice surprise to wake up to on Wednesday morning.

Since I’ve been sick there has been a lot of this in my life:

Green tea and cough drops.  I started with a sore throat and it just went down hill from there.  In fact, I took Tuesday afternoon off and came home and slept for 3 hours.  Sore throat, runny nose, ears were plugged.  It’s been great to be sick, the best part was the 3 hour nap I squeezed on Tuesday.

So while I haven’t been up to par at least one thing did get done:

Check that out, I got new tires on my vehicle.  Remember the blow out a couple weeks ago, yep, I finally got the spare off and received 4 brand new tires.  After 63,000 miles I was due for new tires.

Well before I got sick I did get some exercise in:

Yep, that is 3.1 miles in 32 minutes.  Yeah me.  It’s a good thing because I have finally signed up for a 5K race on Mother’s Day Weekend.  One of my goals this year was to do a 5K by my 40th birthday plus I have a goal to do it under 30 minutes.  I must start training.  I must admit, I am actually really excited for this.

BEST BODY BOOTCAMP

BEST BODY BOOTCAMPSince I have been sick I have been doing my bootcamp but I haven’t pushed myself like I did before.  Just a little is better than nothing.

Nutella

Through Modern Mom I was sent a jar of Nutella to it and give it a review.  Who doesn’t love chocolate so of course I was going to try it.

So what did I do with it?

I used it for breakfast.  I toasted a whole grain waffle and spread 1/2 with almond butter and the other half with Nutella.  I also sliced strawberries and bananas and made a sandwich out of it.

Oh me oh my.  This was incredible.  I love the flavor of chocolate with bananas and strawberries plus the added flavor of the hazelnut that is what Nutella is made of is just terrific.  As you can see from my picture, my Nutella and almond butter was melting from the warmth of the waffle which made it 10 times better.  Would I buy Nutella again?  Absolutely.  Am I trying not to eat it directly out of the jar?  Absolutely.   You must go and buy Nutella and have it for breakfast with waffles and strawberries and bananas.  It will make your day.

Quaker Oatmeal Squares

As you know I am a BzzAgent.  A couple of weeks ago I was sent the Quaker Oatmeal Squares – Honey Nut Flavor to try and give a review about.  I am not the type of person to just sit down and eat a bowl of cereal.  Most of the time I just eat it plain, usually as a snack or mixed into yogurt.  I tried these plain.  I have a huge sweet tooth so I was anxious to see if there was any sweetness to this cereal since it has honey flavor to it.  I was quite surprised that there is actually a little sweetness to this cereal.  The nutty flavor also pops through.  This cereal is great, it also has 35 grams of whole grains per serving.  I am working on incorporating more whole grains into my diet so this was great for this cereal to have.  I must say I will definitely buy this in the store.  My kids liked them as well and they were eating them in milk.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter from us.  May you all remember the reason for Easter, it is not the Easter Bunny but for the undying love that Jesus gave to us.  No matter how much you may not want to believe or you do believe, the only way to heaven is through Jesus and he rose again so that we may get to heaven.  Thank you Jesus.

May you have had a great Easter and thank the Lord for his sacrifice.

Week 4 Update

    • BEST BODY BOOTCAMP

I am a little slow this week on posting on my Week 4 Best Body Bootcamp  This week is the same as week 3 which is 3 days of supersets but instead of doing the rotation just 3 times you do it 4 times.  Wholly cow.  On Monday, my glutes were screaming by the end of the 4th set.   On Tuesday morning my glutes did not want to move.  I guess that is what I am doing this for, to make my muscles work.  Tonight was full body supersets and I increased my weights for my chest from 5 pounds to 8 pounds.  By the end of the 4th set my chest was a screaming.  So, all is going well with bootcamp.  Plus I am pushing myself to increase the weights.  No, it isn’t a huge increase but hey, I am making my muscles work harder.

Busy, Busy Weekend

Sorry for no posts over the weekend but I was crazy busy.

Yep, we took all of the storm windows down and I sprayed them down and the inner windows and washed them all.  Nothing like having all clean windows to make you feel better.

Plus, I cleaned all of the carpets in the house.  That took most of Saturday and half of Sunday.  It takes forever to clean carpets but now my carpet is fluffy again.

Hubby mowed the yard.  Can you believe it on March 24th we had to mow the yard.  That is crazy.  I do not ever remember mowing the yard in March before.  I told him that is going to make for a long summer of mowing.

This crazy lady finally came home.  After a week at the grandparents she was ready to come home.  Now the family is back together again.  Let the fun (or arguing begin).  Wait, the arguing started 5 minutes after the kids were back together.  Nothing like siblings loving each other to make the house complete.  Plus, here is the link to her final guest blog on Grandpa’s Bog – The Writing Deputy.

I was going to get up and do my Week 4, Day 1 of Bootcamp but Bubba crashed on the couch last night so I was unable to do it without waking him up.  Apparently the 10 feet to his bed was way too far for him last night.  Good thing they don’t have school today.  I am excited to start week 4 of bootcamp.

So Excited

This guy comes home today:

As a mother, there are days where the kids absolutely drive me crazy but with him being gone since Sunday, I have actually missed him and can’t wait to see him tonight.  I’m sure if he knew how excited I was to see him, he would just roll his eyes.

What a Crazy Day

Hubby and I took the day off so we could do some car shopping.  We are thinking of getting a different car because the one we have is a gas guzzler and I do not think gas prices are ever going to get cheaper, heck no.  Someone obviously doesn’t have a big enough mansion yet so he has to stick it to the little guys in order to get his new mansion.

So we headed out and stopped at a car dealership and test drove 2 different cars.  I was not impressed so we decided to do a little shopping meaning stopping by Sam’s Club, Trader’s Joe, Barnes and Noble and then lunch.  Then as we were heading out-of-town we stopped at another car dealership (different kind of car then this morning) and test drove 2 other cars.  We decided to negotiate on one of the cars and see where it went.  Well, needless to say Hubby was not happy and was getting irate so we left without a new car.

Well, it is a good thing because on the way home the worst thing happened.  We ended up getting a flat tire.  I was sleeping and I woke up (jumped up and hit the roof of the car) when I heard a pop.  Hubby pulled over and sure enough we had a flat tire.  So first we are getting the jack out and we cannot get it out of the car.  It was stuck in the cubby hole, we worked at it for 5 minutes and finally it came out.  Then it was off to get the spare tire down from underneath the car.  We worked, worked and worked and it would not lower.  Finally a nice trucker stopped and helped hubby get the tire down.  Hubby told him we could get it from here (one of many mistakes Hubby made today).  We couldn’t get the jack to go down to get it under the car.  Frustrating.  Finally, about 10 minutes later, another guy stopped.  Well, he had someone else’s vehicle and had trouble getting the jack out of the car.  Finally he got his jack out and they started to jack up the car, except it wasn’t working correctly.  It was only moving the frame and not the entire car.  Finally they got it up enough that we could get our jack under the car and could get the flat tire off.  We put the spare on, paid the guy $5.00 for stopping and letting us use his jack and got the new tire on.  Well, the spare was really low.  Thankfully a gas station was 2 miles away (one good thing about living in the Midwest, there are random gas stations in the middle of nowhere).  We put air in the tire and finally got home.

What a crazy day.  Now it is time for a glass of wine and to watch American Idol.

Have a great night and hopefully you have had a better day.
