Week 8 – The Final Week

It is hard to believe but this is Week 8, the final week of bootcamp.

What have I learned, I am stronger than I thought.  I am falling in love with weight lifting plus I have actually gotten stronger with my running and I am able to go further thanks to the speed workouts from bootcamp.  I must say if you ever get a chance to do a bootcamp, take full advantage of it.  It is worth your time, sweat and effort.  You will love yourself more for it.

Finally


Finally I am feeling better.  I am almost back to 100% after being sick.  Let’s hope I didn’t just jinx myself.  I have had this head/chest cold and I have had a terrible time trying to shake.  This morning I woke up and felt 90% better.  This makes me very happy and hopefully in a few days I will live 100%.

 We have finally made it to Week 7 of best body bootcamp.  Yeah!!!!

Today on best body bootcamp is was 40 min of 30/60/90 Intervals Mix.  Oh me of my, that was intense.  I did 3.2 miles in 40 minutes.  I think that is awesome for me considering I spent the first 10 minutes walking.  Obviously this bootcamp has made me stronger since last week while I was sick I did not push myself to hard.  I did the work out but I kept it on the lighter side which tells me that no matter what you do, every little bit helps your body.

Finally . . .

They have started work on Husband’s shed.  He is so excited because tomorrow they come to pour the concrete.  Of course,

Yep, they left a pile of dirt and made a nice path in my yard which I didn’t even want.  Apparently the rain from the weekend, left the yard a little (or a lot) soaked.  I guess the pile of dirt will end up evening out all the tire marks.

Sick of Being Sick


Yep, I am one of those people who gets sick when the weather changes and yes, the weather has changed.  In fact, we’ve had to cover our plants at night.

Yes, the sheets are covering the front yard and adding quite the beautiful flower decor, don’t you think?  After having record high temps for the month of March we have been having freeze warnings the last 3 nights.  So needless to say, we had to pick some flowers.

The tulips are now on my counter.  They are all in bloom and I didn’t want them to freeze so while I was sick in bed on Tuesday night, Hubby and Chickie picked them for me.  What a nice surprise to wake up to on Wednesday morning.

Since I’ve been sick there has been a lot of this in my life:

Green tea and cough drops.  I started with a sore throat and it just went down hill from there.  In fact, I took Tuesday afternoon off and came home and slept for 3 hours.  Sore throat, runny nose, ears were plugged.  It’s been great to be sick, the best part was the 3 hour nap I squeezed on Tuesday.

So while I haven’t been up to par at least one thing did get done:

Check that out, I got new tires on my vehicle.  Remember the blow out a couple weeks ago, yep, I finally got the spare off and received 4 brand new tires.  After 63,000 miles I was due for new tires.

Well before I got sick I did get some exercise in:

Yep, that is 3.1 miles in 32 minutes.  Yeah me.  It’s a good thing because I have finally signed up for a 5K race on Mother’s Day Weekend.  One of my goals this year was to do a 5K by my 40th birthday plus I have a goal to do it under 30 minutes.  I must start training.  I must admit, I am actually really excited for this.

Week 4 Update


    • BEST BODY BOOTCAMP

 I am a little slow this week on posting on my Week 4 Best Body Bootcamp  This week is the same as week 3 which is 3 days of supersets but instead of doing the rotation just 3 times you do it 4 times.  Wholly cow.  On Monday, my glutes were screaming by the end of the 4th set.   On Tuesday morning my glutes did not want to move.  I guess that is what I am doing this for, to make my muscles work.  Tonight was full body supersets and I increased my weights for my chest from 5 pounds to 8 pounds.  By the end of the 4th set my chest was a screaming.  So, all is going well with bootcamp.  Plus I am pushing myself to increase the weights.  No, it isn’t a huge increase but hey, I am making my muscles work harder.

Week 2


BEST BODY BOOTCAMP

Yes, it is week 2 of Best Body Bootcamp.  I am so proud of myself for sticking with and finishing my first week.  Now on to week 2.  So for my two personal goals I have decided to change them from last week, yes I will continue to drink 8 glasses of water per day and try not to drink pop.  But the new goals: 1.  Drink 1 cup of green tea per day.  The benefits of green tea are amazing:

Since I have cancer, cholesterol, diabetes and stroke in my family history I must try to do all that I can to help ward these things off.

Goal number 2:  Eat 2 pieces of fruit per day.  Yep, fruit.  I am a terrible fruit eater.  I have been that way since I was a kid.  My mother eats fruit all the time but it is not something that I am a fan of at all.  So I am taking this chance to help change my eating habits.

So how did I do today?

Busy Weekend


It seems like we have been going since Thursday afternoon.

Thursday afternoon Chickie had her Choir Concert:

Then on Thursday night Chickie had her volleyball game:

 I could not tell you from this picture if she is checking out the cobwebs in the ceiling or if the ball is actually coming to her?  She is getting better at volleyball and there is actually some volleying going on which makes for the games to be a little more interesting.

Friday brought the end of the work week, thank goodness.  The week at work was brutal but I did get quite a bit accomplished.  My mother ended up getting back from her cruise to the Bahamas, we ended up with a surprise overnight guest, my sister, she didn’t want to drive all the way home from college for spring break and my house was the half way point plus Bubba and I had to work at the high school jazz band concert.  They have a food table set up so we had to help keep the food stocked and pour the punch.  We got home at 9:00.  Talk about a long day.

Saturday morning got us up bright and early for a 8:00 volleyball game.

With the volleyball game also brought my sister with to see the game and the grandparents to drive down to enjoy the game as well.

The volleyball game was then followed up by a 10:00 meeting for Bubba.  He leaves in 1 week for his DC trip.  I am as nervous as they come  and am wondering how in the heck he is going to survive the week going from place to place and being up and ready on time.  No one is getting them up or making sure that they are on time in the morning for the scheduled day and I mean scheduled day.  They are up and ready to eat breakfast by 7:00 and go until 9:30 or 10:00 at night.  Glad I’m not helping on that trip.  The meeting was then followed up with lunch with the grandparents (which included talking to my mom about her cruise) and then when they left town it was off to wash the vehicles.  I did end up making myself quite a yummy omelete in between everything that was going on.

I had leftover roasted veggies (aspargus, mushrooms, onions and red peppers) that I heated up in the pan.  I then took them out and put in one egg + one egg white into the pan.  Once cooked I added back in my veggies and 1 wedge of Swiss Laughing Cow Cheese.  This hit the spot.  Defintely will continue to do this with the leftover veggies in the house.

Saturday night brought some family game time.

It was quite the game of hand and foot at our house.  We played until 9:00.  Then it was off to bed because with the sprining forward of the clocks, it messes up my sleeping schedule.  I always draft the day after.  It usually takes me about 2 weeks to get used to the time change.

Sunday morning brought about a bath for someone very special.

Needless to say she wasn’t too happy about being all cleaned up but let me tell you, I love how she gets all fluffy and smells oh so good.  The rest of the day has been committed to laundry.

BEST BODY BOOTCAMP

Yep, I finished up the first week of bootcamp.  I absolutely love it.  I am also very proud of myself for sticking with it.  On top of a goal of doing all of the workouts every day, Tina also had us set 2 other goals for ourselves.  Mine was to drink 8 glasses of water per day and to not drink pop (soda – depending on what part of the country you are from).  I completed those 2 goals.  YEAH ME!!!  For me not to drink pop all week, I thought it would be brutual but it wasn’t at all – okay the first couple of days were brutual but after that I haven’t craved it at all.  Plus I love drinking all the water.  Who knew?  So I will continue these two goals plus I must think of 2 more goals for week number 2.  I am thinking one of them will have to do with my eating habits.  Tina wants us to eat better during bootcamp and this is a huge challenge for me because I have such a sweet tooth and let’s face it, I love junk food.  I figure I have eight weeks to accomplish bootcamp which will also give me 8 weeks to clean up my eating habits.

Well off to enjoy the rest of the afternoon.  Hope you had a fun filled weekend as well.

PB2


Have you seen this?  I found out about in through the blog world and ordered it on iHerb.  It is powdered peanut butter.  Never heard of it before but I had to check it out.

So what I did was made Homemade Honey Cinnamon Peanut Butter.  I combined 2 Tbsp PB2, 1 1/2 Tbsp almon milk, 1/2 teaspoon honey and a sprinkle of cinnamon.  It is wonderful but it has about 1/3 the calories as regular peanut butter.  Who knew?  The plus with the PB2 is that you can make it as thick or as thin as you want it.  I’m thinking it would be great thin as a syrup for pancakes.  Defintely going to have to try that next.

I put the PB2 on top of some overnight oats that I made up last night before bed.  I put together:

  • 1/3 cup oatmeal
  • 1/3 cup vanilla Chobani yogurt
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/3 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 tsp chia seeds and
  • sprinkle of cinnamon

I must admit this hit the spot this morning.

So we were short at work so I got off an hour early because I ended up working through my lunch hour. So I headed home and knew I had to get my bootcamp workout in for the day because we had plans for this evening.  So it was 50 minutes of cardio so I jumped on the treadmill with the tv on:

Yep, I watched basketball while on the treadmill.  The Boys State Basketball Tournament is going on for the high school and the private school in town was playing in the semi-finals.  They ended up winning in OT.  It is amazing how fast 50 minutes goes on a treadmill when you are watching a close game.

I must admit I am loving this bootcamp.  This is the farthest I have ever went on the treadmill.  No, I am not the fastest runner and yes I did some walking but I went 3.713 miles in 50 minutes.  That is the farthest I have ever run.  I am thinking doing a 5K this spring is very doable.  I am so excited.

So the thing we had planned for tonight:

Yep, Chickie had a volleyball game tonight.  She hasn’t mastered the overhand serve yet but we are working on it.  They won the game tonight.  They are starting to get better with volleying so hopefully that will come.  She loves the game and it is fun to see her progress every week.

Now I am off to catch some Iowa State Basketball at the Big 12 Tournament.  Catch you tomorrow.

Hello Quads


So today was day 3 of Bootcamp.  So I started off on the treadmill and did 20 minutes and then it was on to Workout B.  Let’s just say my quads hurt just at the end of the first set.  It was a one legged sit and stand holding a weight.  I obviously have no muscles in my legs.  I had to use one leg plus the heel (lightly) of the other.  Let’s just say by the end of the 3 sets I was a sweaty mess.

So after my workout I needed something to help the shakiness.

The other day on Open Sky they had Great Harvest Cville Cluster Granola on sale from Kath Younger who blogs over at Kath Eats Real Food.  (If you haven’t ever read her blog you should defintely check it out.  Kath and her husband are expecting their first child plus they run a Great Harvest Bakery in Charlottesville.  I absolutely love her blog.)

This granola is fantastic.  in fact, I have trouble just eating the recommended 1/2 cup serving.  I find myself sticking my hand back into the bag for more.  I added this granola to some Chobani yogurt.

 This hit the spot.  Now I’m off to do some yoga because my legs are super sore from my run yesterday.

Wind, wind and more wind.


So since it was 66° out when I got home from work, I decided to do my:

I needed to get in 50 minutes of Cardio so I thought it would be great to go for a run and that’s exactly what I did.

Yes, I only did 40 minutes worth because I hit the trail by our house:

 Which ended up going out into the country.  Well the weather may have been nice out but:

 

Yep, it was windy, windy and windy out as I was running.  Let me tell you heading out wasn’t bad but coming back, it was a pain in the butt.  Needless to say I didn’t run the fastest (more like walked) most of the way home.

When I got back I finished out the last 10 minutes with:

Two new flavors from Hamburger Helper. We decided on the Italian Cheesy Italian Beef.  Let me tell you the kiddos loved it.  They gobbled it up faster than I could snap a picture of it.

I guess it was a hit with them.  Hubby and I thought it was just okay.  Yes, boxed meals are not the best but it is one way that we are getting the kiddos to help with the cooking responsibilities.  Bubba is now 13 and Chickie is 11 so we have decided it is a good time to get them going on cooking.  When do you think it is a good time to start teaching your kids how to cook?

Bootcamp Baby!!!


Yep, that’s right.  I’m going to bootcamp.

Tina from Best Body Fitness is having a bootcamp.  I am a day late in signing up but thankfully she extended the sign up for one more day.  What does that mean, well I missed Mondays workout but I am excited for today’s work out.  Since it is going to be 70° today (that is in Iowa in March, can you believe it?) I am saving my workout until after work.  It is 50 minutes of cardio so I see a run happening right after work today.  I am so, so excited for it.  The only plus is that I get off of work early today because I came in early so the run is going to happen before supper.

The bootcamp is awesome.  If you missed out on it, I am truly sorry, but I will keep you up to date with my workouts.

The reason I did the bootcamp?  Well, as you know I am trying to lose 40 pounds by my 40th birthday (which is the end of June) and I am having a terrible time with trying to drop weight.  With Tina’s plan she gives you exercises to do plus a list of good foods that you should be incorporating into your diet plus it is an 8 week bootcamp.  I should have results by the end if I follow the plan.  I will let you know how it goes.
